Virgin Blue Check-in Requirements

Domestic Travel

You will need to check-in 30 minutes prior to departure for domestic flights. Failure to check-in at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure time may result in forfeiture of fare.

It is highly recommended that guests arrive for check-in no later than 45 minutes prior to scheduled departure time for domestic travel. For guests traveling on a domestic connection, it is recommended that you arrive for check-in no later than 60 minutes. Guests connecting onto an international flight should arrive at the domestic check-in at least 90 minutes prior to scheduled departure time to complete immigration requirements.

If you have any special travel requirements please ensure that you are checked in no less than 1 hour prior to departure for domestic travel.

International Travel - Pacific/Polynesian Blue flight.

It is highly recommended that guests arrive for check-in no later than 2 hours prior to departure for international travel. All guests must be at the boarding gate no less than 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure time. Failure to arrive at the boarding gate less than 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure time may result in forfeiture of fare.

Due to security restrictions, guests may not check in for international flights earlier than the times specified below on the day of travel. International check-in commences at the following times:

Flights from the Pacific Islands: 2 ½ hours prior to departure
Flight from Australia and New Zealand: 2 hours prior to departure

Guests must present their passport and required visa and onward/return travel information at check-in.

Check-in Baggage Limit

Restrictions and limitations apply to the amount of baggage that you wish to check in

Blue Plus Fare - Each guest occupying a seat (Adult or Child), is permitted to check-in baggage weighing a total of 32 kg, free of charge. Infants do not receive a free baggage allowance.

All other fare types - Each guest occupying a seat (Adult or Child), is permitted to check-in baggage weighing a total of 20 kg, free of charge. Infants do not receive a free baggage allowance.

Check-in baggage that exceeds this allowance will attract excess baggage charges. Each piece of baggage must not weigh more than 32 kg or exceed total linear dimensions of 140 cm (Add together the depth, width and length). Any baggage that exceeds the free allowance will only be accepted at the carrier's discretion.

Carry-on Baggage Restrictions

Virgin Blue and Pacific/Polynesian Blue requirements

Guests occupying a seat (Adult or Child), may take baggage weighing up to 7kgs per person on to the aircraft with them. Carry on baggage is carried free of charge and the guests allowance is restricted to the following:

1 piece not exceeding dimensions of 23 cm in depth, 34 cm in height and 48 cm in length. (total linear dimensions equal to 105cm) and
In addition guests may carry 1 suit pack or garment bag, non rigid/unfolded not exceeding 11cm in depth x 60cm in width x 114cm in length (total linear dimensions equal to 185cm) or another small bag or briefcase.

The following items may be carried in addition to the items listed above:

Laptop computer, a handbag, pocket book or purse.
An overcoat, wrap or blanket.
An umbrella (except umbrellas with metal points) or walking stick.
A small camera or pair of binoculars.
Infants' food for consumption in flight.
A pair of crutches or prosthetic devices for the guest's use provided that the guest is dependant upon them.

Parents travelling with infants will be allowed to carry an extra bag containing articles for use in the cabin such as nappies, baby food, etc.

Unopened bottles of alcohol are permitted onboard provided they are properly packaged. In-flight consumption of own alcohol is not permitted.

Guests should take care to ensure that their carry on baggage contains no sharp items, including nail files, nail scissors etc.

Inflated balls are not permitted as carry-on baggage. Balloons and other inflatable toys may be carried in the cabin provided they are not inflated.
