with BBQ and all the necessary facilities. The following picnic and barbeque
areas around Darwin will guide you to some of our special parks in
and around Darwin City also some in the outer Darwin area.  |

CASUARINA
COASTAL RESERVE
This
Reserve protects a large coastal area between the mouth of Rapid Creek
and Lee Point. There are long white sandy beaches fringed by Casuarina
trees and beautiful sandstone cliffs. Behind the beaches and dunes are mangroves,
monsoon vine thickets and paperbark forests.
Plenty of bird and tropical marine life to be seen. Picnic
areas · Cycling paths · Carpark · BBQs · Picnic tables · Wood provided. LOCATION
Located in Darwin's northern suburbs
at the end of Lee Point Road.

THE
ESPLANADE
A
beautiful area with plenty of shade and area for the kids to run around,
there are no BBQ Facilities but is still a picturesque place for a picnic
with lovely sea breezes. There is also a walk and bike path with interesting
displays of Darwin history splashed along the path. The area also has
a war memorial. LOCATION
In the city of Darwin itself, head south-east from the city center. It
strethches along the harbour.

BERRY
SPRINGS NATURE PARK --- ---
Berry
Creek starts from a number of springs, forms a small creek then reaches
Darwin Harbour through a mangrove lined estuary. The Park provides
an attractive area close to Darwin. Plenty of BBQ's and picnic tables with the monsoonal rain forests provide a good shade
canopy. LOCATION
57 km south of Darwin and 1 km from the Territory Wildlife Park

HOLMES
JUNGLE NATURE PARK
Holmes
Jungle Nature Park protects one of the few remaining area's of monsoon
forest in the Darwin area.
The Park covers 250 hectares and has a creek running through the centre.
Features are natural eucalypt woodland with pandanus palms, sustained by a spring, with tall Carpentaria palms, ferns and vines.
View a large numbers of birds, mammals and reptiles
in the monsoon forest. There is a lookout, walking and cycling path,
horseriding and European history to learn about. No
BBQ's but plenty of seats for picnics. Open daily from 7 am to 7 pm. LOCATION Adjacent to Crocodylus Park, turn north off Vanderlin
drive to the Shoal Bay Recycling Centre, then enter the Park through

RAPID
CREEK WATER GARDENS
Surrounded
by beautiful water gardens and fountains, this park has the most picturesque
walk & cycle paths around. There is a huge shaded playground, bbq's,
shaded picnic table areas, drinking fountains & toilet facilities.
Very close to the sunday Rapid Creed Markets. LOCATION
Turn off Trower Rd onto freshwater Rd JINGILI.

CHARLES
DARWIN PARK --- ---
A
Park of natural and cultural significance with picturesque views overlooking
Darwin City. This park is a natural wetland and a war memorial. Plenty
of barbeques and picnic tables. drinking fountains and toilet facilities.
LOCATION Travel east from Darwin city, along Tiger Brennan
Drive. At Winnellie, opposite Bowen Rd about 5.5 km from the city, highway
signs identify the park. Turn South through the gates.
Park gates open between 7 am and 7 pm - See Map
