Formed about 18 months ago the club is attracting anglers who are after a club that is focusing on game fishing only with a preference for chasing bill fish. There is a great social atmosphere within the club and all members, as well as their families, are encouraged to attend any function whether they fished or not. We work on the “keep it simple” principle and this applies to the committee, events and rules. The club encourages tag and release of all fish. This is fishing for the future. We fish to a strict set of Australian rules and all members are very willing to assist one another. We are very happy to assist “out of towners” with any information that could be of assistance to them if they wish to fish the region. It would be terrific if Darwin based clubs were able to attend one of our major events. The Gove/Nhulunbuy region has many billfish very close to the harbour and as more and more people are taking up the sport the club is steadily growing and promoting the sport and region whenever we can. With all events we will assist with accommodation and charters if at all possible. Because we are in a very remote region there are difficulties with many aspects of visiting and fishing our waters. The GGFC endeavors to assist anglers where possible.
